FAQ

Everything you need to know about our training, gear, and mission.

What is inclusive firearms training?

Inclusive firearms training provides the same high-quality instruction you'd get anywhere, but in an environment designed to welcome people who are often excluded from traditional gun culture — LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, liberals, women, and first-time owners. No political litmus tests, no condescension, no ego.

What is a training party?

A training party is our signature in-home training model. You invite 4-6 friends to your home, and we bring inert training firearms and expert instruction. Think Tupperware party, but for self-defense education. Everyone learns firearm safety, handling, and basic trauma care in a comfortable, private setting.

Is live ammunition used at training parties?

No. All in-home training parties use inert (non-functional) training firearms. There is zero risk of accidental discharge. When participants are ready for live-fire experience, we help them find a suitable range for their next step.

Do I need any experience to attend?

None at all. Our Handgun 101 and training party sessions are designed specifically for people who have never touched a firearm. We start with the absolute basics: safety rules, how to hold a firearm, stance, and legal fundamentals.

How much does a training party cost?

An Intro Party (up to 6 guests, 2 hours) is $450 flat. A Full Party (up to 6 guests, 3 hours) is $700 flat. The host attends free. Per-person cost works out to as low as $75/person with 6 guests.

Where do you offer training?

We currently offer in-home training parties in the Portland metro area. Range-based courses are held at partner facilities. We're expanding to additional metro areas — sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know.

What should I look for in my first firearm?

This depends on your intended use (home defense, concealed carry, range shooting), your hand size, and your comfort level. We cover this in detail during our Handgun 101 course. The short answer: don't buy anything until you've handled several options. We can help.

What is an IFAK and why do I need one?

An IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) is a compact trauma kit containing a tourniquet, wound packing gauze, chest seal, and other emergency supplies. You are statistically more likely to need a tourniquet than a firearm. We recommend everyone carry one — our Trauma Care course teaches you how to use it.

Who are your instructors?

Our instructors are experienced firearms practitioners who specialize in working with first-time owners and underrepresented communities. They focus on safety-first, trauma-informed instruction in a judgment-free environment.

Do you sell firearms?

No. Tactical Snowflakes is a training and gear company. We sell tactical accessories, medical kits, branded merchandise, and educational content. We do not sell firearms or ammunition, but we can recommend reputable dealers in your area.

What does 'Tactical Snowflakes' mean?

It's an ironic reclaiming of a term often used to dismiss people who care about inclusion and safety. We think the communities most often called 'snowflakes' are exactly the ones who should be trained and prepared. Defending your community isn't soft — it's tactical.
